I wonder how much blog traffic Francis would have got had he had a blog?
You write and write and write but still your blog receives little traffic. Or maybe you get tons of traffic but very little comments. Well I am here to tell you how to become a Christian Blogging Celebrity.
I have been to many Christian blogging sites and they have followed the rule of “Content is King” but there is still very little discussion happening on their blog. Why is this? It is because they don’t have a platform outside of blogging. In order to be a successful Christian blogger one needs to be doing something else to attract attention.
Preachers of large churches have a pretty good platform going on for them. If one is a pastor of 3000 people and they know he has a blog then more than likely they will show up. Even if they don’t like their pastor they will show just to see if he is saying anything sinful.
When I read a good book I feel like I know the author. If I was to knock on their door I have the feeling they would invite me in for a drink (water or cola of course). Most Christian author blogs I have visited have tons of community activity.
Hip, cool and well that about covers my vocab for those kinds of words. Their music makes you feel closer to God. Their blog makes you feel like you are a bit cooler yourself.
Okay so you are saying to yourself, “I’m not any of those, what can I do about it.” Honestly if you are not one of those there is probably little chance people will notice you. But I have noticed what people like in a blog post.
People like short and interesting content they can relate with easily. Don’t forget to put a question at the end that they can answer. People want to talk about themselves. Most don’t want to learn anything new. Post something they can easily understand and ask them how they feel. It’s not that your readers are dumb, it’s that they are so busy that they probably don’t have time to try to learn something new every time they read your blog. If you write something for them to learn make sure you use bold headings with small paragraphs. Bullet points and numbers are great also. Readers want to be entertained.
I bet most of you didn’t even read this post. But if you did:
Why do you blog? Are you concerned with fickle Christian blog popularity?
PS: Being a missionary who blogs does nothing for one’s blog stats.

I don’t blog and I can’t tell if I’m concerned about the popularity. It’s just great to hear from good friends and be inspired by their thoughts or learn from events that made them think.
And I have great respect for the bloggers that keep up their great work despite the little attention they get!
Thanks Johannes

I blog. I’m a Christian. I’m an author. I have a few friends who visit my blog.
I write because I have things to say. It may not be the best or most entertaining, but I keep on saying it.
Concerned about the popularity? On good days I don’t care a whit. On bad days I whine to God about no one reading my words.

You are an author? Awesome.
I really do look up to people who take enough time to write words that end up in books.
Thanks for your honesty about the bad days.
