Introverts Make Better Bloggers
I have always been really bad in interviews. I think it has to do with being introverted. I am not shy to answer questions, the problem is I just can’t answer the question. It has to do with slower than extroverted processing. I can get my answer but most people don’t want to wait on me. Blog posts are good ways for introverts to express themselves because we can take our time to draw out the answers.
Why I Like Germany
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
No Seriously. Why I Like Germany In Bullet Form
- The sky is closer. When I sit in the church building wondering what it is that Randy is preaching about, I look up and see clouds drifting by that seem to float right above my head.
- The sidewalks are more interesting. A lane to walk and a lane to ride.
- I like the little grocery stores. I still find I like to go to Aldi that is right up the road from our apartment in Joplin.
- Backyards. When kept they are greener than anything over here in the south/mid-west.
- Trains! In Missouri trains are used for hauling vehicles and coal. I like riding trains.
- No smoking laws! Yippee! (We are starting to do this but each state is different)
- Hannover Zoo. Best zoo I have been to. That being said its only competition is the Tulsa Zoo.
- Pizza. Pizza Taxi makes a mean pizza.
- Johannes Duckeck.
- Wetten, dass..?
- History. America has history but nothing like Europe.
- Architecture. Beautiful buildings.
- Streets that curve. Most streets the middle of the US goes straight and is more efficient which is boring.
- Brötchen
- Assigned seating at the movie theater.
- The cold weather. This gives me an excuse to cuddle with Amanda.
- Less tornadoes.
- Not likely that Germany will experience temperatures at 43 degrees Celsius!
- Game night.
- Bicycles.
- Country side while riding a Bicycle.
- 10,000 different types of trashcans.
- Church family.
- And other friends who live in Peine.
I am sure this is not an exhaustive list. Also this list is not in order at all. People would be up top if that were the case. Hope this helps a little.

I’m flattered, thanks, Dave!
What I like about America:
+ People smiling at you
+ Strangers being nice, welcoming and generous in their hospitality
+ Christian standard of living spread out a lot further than on most places in the earth
+ Air conditioning (I like it even really cool in a store)
+ Patriotism (Not generally accepted in Germany because of the history, soccer being the only exception)
+ Cool, interesting sports (instead of boring old soccer)
+ Everything is cheaper there: gasoline, books, toys, cinema tickets, music (only exception being going to a university, which is what I’m coming to America for…)
+ Drive through grocery stores (nothing like that to celebrate laziness and reject our human ability to walk!)
+ Mountain Dew
+ People that are interested in you and will come over to talk to you and get to know you
+ Good movies and music and a few good tv shows
+ So many of my good friends
+ Good preachers and theology professors who actually believe what they are teaching
+ Comic books and Comic book stores
+ Mini skirts that are a lot more mini than mini skirts are here (I was debating wheter I should put that here… but hey, I’m a man)
+ Cadillacs
+ Huge malls and stores that have so much more than you need
+ The abundance od land, that you can actually own your own forest and lake
+ The high percentage of conservative people
That’s what came to my mind at the moment
Thanks for providing this list. It will be a guest post here: Johannes Duckeck Guest Post. It will show up on the 27 at 7:00am your time.
